Women Empowerment and Development
Economic and employment opportunities are extremely scarce in Rakai and Uganda in general, especially for women who are faced with the incredible task of providing for themselves and for their families. Culturally, the women have a great task of providing food for the family. This is not about to change due to poverty, lack of education and ever increasing population. Therefore, the RODI Empowerment and Development programs provide women with the appropriate training to further their self-development and to generate critical income for needs of their families. Through training, women get the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in micro-credit, micro-finance, small business development and marketing. This equips them with tools to simultaneously fight against poverty and gender discrimination.
We also aim at putting in place Income Generating Projects for groups of women in the community. Each woman will be given an opportunity to participate in the project for two years. After that period, each woman should have acquired knowledge and made some saving to enhance self-development for further development of her family. Such a woman should be in position to economically contribute toward the well being of the family. You can help support an Income Generating Project.
